About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4 and possibly Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will deliver lessons that build literacy skills analytical thinking and a love of reading and writing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5)

• Planning and delivering engaging challenging lessons

• Supporting pupils to develop analytical writing and comprehension skills

• Preparing pupils for GCSE and/or A-Level examinations

• Monitoring and assessing pupil progress

• Contributing to curriculum development within the department

• Supporting extracurricular opportunities such as debating clubs writing competitions or school publications

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification

• Have strong subject knowledge in English

• Be confident delivering lessons across multiple key stages

• Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

• Be passionate about inspiring pupils and fostering a love of literature

• Work effectively within a collaborative department
