Summary
The Scientist I Manufacturing Sciences / Analytical Chemist will be responsible for the synthesis of functionalized resins used in column production. The role involves executing manufacturing protocols performing polymer chemistry synthesis supporting production processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve quality safety and manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Use manufacturing protocols to accurately synthesize raw and functionalized resins for column production for HPLC.
- Follow established procedures to perform standard polymer chemistry synthesis such as ATRP grafting and polymerizations.
- Address and report problems in daily manufacturing and propose effective countermeasures.
- Communicate effectively with production staff regarding delays or issues in production.
- Present findings and results and interact efficiently in cross-functional settings with departments such as R&D Process Development and Product Management.
- Collaborate on PPI initiatives to improve the quality and yield of synthesized resins.
- Participate in 5S JDI and Safety initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree or higher in Chemistry.
- 0 1 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience with polymer chemistry and analytical chemistry.
- Experience with chromatography software and H/UPLC.
- Familiarity with chromatography systems.
- Experience working in analytical chemistry environments.
- Experience generating and following quality control documents or procedures in compliance with ISO9001 standards.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing environments and standard chemistry techniques and principles.
- Ability to perform routine analysis on size distribution and surface area of resins.
- Ability to interpret chromatograms from HPLC/UPLC and GC-MS.
- Familiarity with standard software programs such as Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
