Senior Materials Engineer

Job Description

This position is focusing on materials engineering mainly on metallic materials used in Automotive industry. You will join a materials engineering team as a part of Garrett China engineering department the team is responsible for materials related work. Your expertise will be used to support multiple types of work including failure analysis material characterization material localization and innovation on new material/process.

Responsibilities

- Innovation on new materials and processes deep dive in material properties introduce low cost material and drive saving.

- Failure analysis for parts applied on automotive turbochargers work scope containing hardware examination sample preparation conducting analysis report preparation and interpretation.

- Material characterization and identification define material characterization test plan results judgement and clarification.

- Material localization & development lead and support material transition projects work with stakeholders to make sure project schedule is met.

- Coaching of junior engineers knowledge sharing inside team

- Support electrification materials projects.

- Cross-functional support by providing professional advices in terms of materials engineering.

- Equipment management responsible for record maintenance / calibration / issue solution for specific lab equipment.

Education & Experiences

- Bachelors Degree or above in material science & engineering or material processing engineering in metallic materials field. Or in other materials related majors.

- 5 years experiences of material analysis work.

- 3 years experiences of failure analysis work for metallic parts.

Key skills & Knowledge

- Shall have general background and knowledge on widely used structural materials for instance alloy steel stainless steel supper alloy aluminum alloy etc.

- Familiar with the properties of different types of metallic materials for instance microstructure hardness and mechanical properties etc.

- Familiar with at least 1 widely applied material processing technology for example casting forging welding heat treatment or surface treatment etc.

- Should have the abilities to work under pressure and temporary high workload.

- Be able to work on one specific material analysis case independently from hardware examination to report preparation.

- Should have good English abilities in speaking and writing.

- Candidates with experiences of leading material/process development projects are preferred.

- Candidates with background of electrification will be prioritized.
