Job Summary

Dhauwurd-Wurrung Elderly & Community Health Service Inc (DWECH) are currently seeking a General Practitioner to join our medical clinic. We are located in the picturesque seaside town of Portland in the South-West corner of Victoria and can offer a great work-life balance in a practice looking to provide the best holistic care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider community.

We are a community-controlled organisation and are committed to creating positive and fulfilling lifestyles for individuals and families. The organisation provides a range of services including Primary Health Care Social and Emotional Well Being Youth Services Family Services and Home and Community Care.

The General Practitioner provides culturally safe patientcentred medical care to the Aboriginal community and the broader Portland community in line with bestpractice clinical standards. The role includes comprehensive assessment diagnosis prescribing treatment planning and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions to improve health outcomes. The GP works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team contributes to clinical governance accreditation and quality improvement activities and supports health promotion initiatives. The position may also include clinical teaching supervision and mentoring of interns registrars or students as required.

Requirements

Full unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.

Medical Practitioner registration with the Medical Board.

Medical Indemnity current.

Fellowship with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) Vocational Registration (VR) or College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM).

Full working rights in Australia.

Current First Aid BLS and CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Current Federal Police Check Working with Childrens and mandated vaccination requirements

Be eligible to apply for a Medicare Provider Number.

Desirable

Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Experience or knowledge and understanding of state and federal government health polices for Aboriginal health and strategies.

Knowledge of the social and cultural history of Aboriginal people and the impacts on social and health outcomes.
