The Therapy Manager provides consistent leadership promotes high standards of patient care and participates in program evaluation and development as well as completing designated administrative tasks. This role oversees all operations of a designated unit drives progress in the unit contributing to patient care excellence.
The Therapy Manager manages and guides the therapy department in order to improve the patient experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the delivery of interdisciplinary therapy for all inpatients or outpatients.
- Collaborates with interdepartmental supervisory staff to ensure quality patient care and functions within the scope of Shepherd Centers philosophy policies and procedures.
- Serves as a resource person in area(s) of clinical expertise within departments facility and community.
- Provides treatment to patients as necessary.
- Assists staff with obtaining special equipment for patient care as needed.
- Schedules extended therapy hours classes weekend coverage vacations holidays low census days special activities and community outings.
- Serves and leads programmatic and center wide performance improvement teams or committees that support program development for respective program area.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements organizational standards and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION:
Physical Therapist (PT)
Occupational Therapist (OT)
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS:
Exceptional leadership and coaching skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Effective motivational and team communication skills.
Effective situational awareness and adjustment
Completes orientation and initial assessment of competency successfully by determined due date.
Completes mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements by determined due date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in brain injury spinal cord injury other neuromuscular disorders preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Uses body tools or special devices to safely effectively and efficiently to move guide or place patients. Involves some latitude for judgement with regard to precision attained and the selection of what adaptive device(s) to utilize.
Ability to transfer and position patients consistent with lifting up to 50 lbs.
