The Role:

Global Sports Technology is part of the Global Sportsbook & Trading Technology area and a critical element of Flutter Entertainments global sports business that supports leading brands and customer experiences supporting billions of pounds of stakes. The remit of Global Sports Technology also entails helping to differentiate our Sports product offering delivering time critical data at global scale and providing first class interfaces and capabilities for our traders to use.

Global Sports Technology is responsible for developing tech products that support 24M in GGR in 2025 growing to 75M GGR in 2027 including solutions for Tennis Golf Boxing UFC/MMA amongst others. These products have direct impact on business growth on leading Brands such as FanDuel.

The Associate Director of Technology will be a member of the Global Sportsbook & Trading extended leadership this role you will provide thought leadership for Group Global Sports create and develop Tech Strategies with the Senior Director of GST and shape the future of the global sports capability for entire Flutter.

You will work directly with the commercial and product management teams to ensure that the allocated technology team delivers against the global roadmap objectives and strategies.

You will lead teams of squads accountable for software planning designing coding testing deploying and supporting working software within Global Sportsbook & Trading (GST) value streams. The role will be a strategic thought leader contributing to the evolution of our technology platforms within the GST. The role will also drive continuous improvement of the relevant activities of the product delivery lifecycle alongside Product Delivery Architecture Operations and UX people in value streams to ensure engineering teams are effectively contributing to overall outcomes.

The role will be a key contributor shaping the objectives of our Global Sports mission and ensure our Global Sports engineering teams are setup for success have effective leadership support and are engaged and are able to collaborate with Product Delivery Architecture and Operations to ensure delivery of outcomes aligned to the Global Sports mission.

The role will provide coaching and mentoring to engineering leaders and engineers to ensure we continue to listen to and grow an awesome group of engineers within the Global Sportsbook & Trading area. This requires enabling continuous improvement of our engineering output our people and working with other leaders in Tech Architects and Principal Engineers across value streams and Flutter Technology to ensure a cohesive approach to engineering our platforms.

What you will be doing:

• Defining the tech vision and strategy for Global Sports across divisions
• Facilitating brand engagement in adopting and continually improving global sports technology solutions
• Operate at a global will be able to demonstrate impartiality equality and balanced management of all roadmaps. This will include appropriate account management to ensure all stakeholders are clear on delivery use of resources and service availability.
• Provide inspirational leadership management and motivation for an exceptional technology function made up of multifunctional team spread across several locations
• Ensuring the active leadership and participation of Engineering alongside Product and Delivery in the implementation of products and capabilities in the Global Sports value stream
• Planning designing implementing and supporting Global Sports products and platforms
• Maintaining platform and product strategy and vision alongside Architecture Delivery Operations and Product
• Contributing as a member of the GST Technology Leadership Team in defining the strategy that supports and develops a world class engineering practice within GST.
• Ensure standards processes and tools are defined agreed and maintained for engineering our products
• Provide transparency of operational health of relevant products to GST
• Ensure 24/7 operational support of our products
• Ensure quality is a first-class citizen in the engineering process and work closely with the QA capability within the tribe to meet the quality demands of the business
• Provide clear communication team leadership and mentoring skills for the Engineering teams
• Travel as required to key sports technology locations

Experience:

• Strong knowledge of sports betting and trading technology environments and the products that are built thereon
• Experience working in software delivery and understanding of quality assurance in the delivery process
• Ability to formulate and communicate strategy
• Ability to work through a large set of unknowns and translate them into Product Process or Tech requirements
• Experience of leading teams and developing talent
• Active contributions to tech strategy within Global Platforms and namely Global Sports
