The Estimating Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Estimating Department with the focus of managing assignments and schedules to ensure that all proposals include accurate projected execution costs including materials labor and program management for all project requirements. This positions goal is to mitigate risk ensure timely and accurate submittal of proposals and oversee departmental schedule. This position also assists in developing guidelines and processes as well as talent development and mentorship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university preferred or equivalent experience/training.
At least four (4) years experience estimating commercial retail multi-family projects ranging in various sizes during which the candidate was involved in both estimating and purchasing activities.
Wide general knowledge base networking and recent interaction with sub-tier vendors public authorities and utilities in the region.
Must possess strong leadership qualities and organizational skills.
Must possess strong time management skills.
Must possess a strong sense of urgency.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting.
Must be comfortable in an ever-changing environment.
Self-motivated reliable and attention to detail is a must.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and applicable software systems.
Proficient with construction estimating construction document take-off and bidding software systems.
Proficient with project management software applications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position works in an environment with moderate noise level. (Examples: business office with computers and printers light traffic). Usual office environment with frequent sitting walking standing and occasional climbing stooping kneeling crouching and balancing. Frequent use of eye hand and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as telephone. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds.
