About the Position:
In an exciting and challenging environment the Ladle Furnace Operator under general supervision performs daily and other related duties following established practices set forth in the Operating Procedures and Manufacturing Instructions manuals.

What youll do:
- Must wear the required PPE at all times.
- Performs functions necessary for the refinement of liquid steel.
- Performs alloy calculations for steel grades.
- Refines liquid steel in accordance with the Operating Procedures and Manufacturing Instructions.
- Confirms steel and chemical analysis meet customers specifications.
- Deslags heat as needed.
- Operates Wire Feeder.
- Adds Electrodes when needed
- Pour overpours and service/inspect ladles as required.
- Assures supplies are stocked including Trim Bins.
- Performs housekeeping in the Steelmaking Department.
- Helps maintain the vacuum hood refractories and V seal.
- Assists with EAF relines as needed
- Assists the Crew Leader as needed.
- Assists Auxiliary Department with emergency pit cleanings as deemed necessary.
- Report all incidents near misses defective material and faulty equipment to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain working area in a clean orderly and safe condition.
- Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
- Must have ability and desire to work well with others.
- Meets attendance requirements.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum six (6) months experience in handling liquid steel is preferred.
SCHEDULE: Rotating - (Subject to change depending on operating requirements). Overtime hours may be required.
TRAINING: Theoretical Steelmaking Course; overall score and alloy calculation of 80% is preferred.
