Job Summary

The Toth-Petroczy lab is an interdisciplinary research group at MPI-CBG and CSBD that studies protein evolution. As a group of scientists with diverse backgrounds in computer science bioinformatics statistics biophysics chemistry and biology we are fascinated by proteins. We study how protein synthesis errors contribute to the diversity of proteins observed in every cell and how these protein forms shape evolution and contribute to diseases.

We are seeking a motivated and independent wet-lab scientist with experience in proteomics to contribute to ongoing research projects and publications in the group.

Your Role

You will contribute to experimental projects investigating protein synthesis and translational accuracy using quantitative proteomics approaches. The work involves:

  • preparation and analysis of biological samples for mass spectrometry
  • calibration and quality control of the mass spectrometer
  • analysis and interpretation of proteomics data
  • collaboration with computational researchers within the group
  • contribution to publication

Essential qualifications:

  • PhD in biology chemistry life sciences or related discipline
  • Hands-on work with mass spectrometrybased proteomics
  • Ability to analyze proteomics datasets ideally with coding or scripting skills
  • Familiarity with bacterial and eukaryotic cell culture systems
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English

  • High degree of ownership and perseverance
  • Ability to interact and work with interdisciplinary team members
