DescriptionThe Marine Sales Representative is accountable for developing and driving sales in a specific geographic territory and regional customers.
Additional Information:
This position is a field position and will be expected to travel at least 50% of the time.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Companys staff employees and business relationships.
ResponsibilitiesProspecting new business and making sales calls to existing accounts for the purpose of selling to customers in the Marine space of the Protective & Marine market.
Collect reliable customer/territory information and estimate individual customer potential.
Develop a strategy to grow business with customers and identify items or product categories that require specific attention in support of this strategy.
Develop weekly monthly and yearly sales plan and execute that plan accordingly
Determine where customer is in the overall selling process and what steps are necessary to sell that customer marine coatings.
Conduct product demos to support the selling process.
Support customers application this will involve the use of a marine technical service representative.
Identify sources of sales leads and follow through on leads provided by store/facility personnel as appropriate.
Manage customer complaints within lines of authority and manage process to resolution.
Ability to maintain a discipline in pre-call planning daily and monthly activity to ensure time is maximized and the territory SherPlan is being executed.
Demonstrated knowledge in the Protective & Marine products especially those for the marine space and application methods.
Understand and develop plans for market dynamics and trends in the marine industry.
Knowledge of and capable of using sales excellence methods in sales calls and time management.
Ability to evaluate growth and improvement opportunities and establish a strategic direction taking into consideration resources constraints and organizational values.
Experience and proven success in conducting outside sales calls on commercial and government marine accounts to build new business and increase existing business.
Excellent wholesale customer service skills including problem solving and handling customer complaints within lines of authority and manage process to resolution.
Demonstrated leadership qualities including professional presence and exhibiting confidence with customers becoming a peer leader with the team and within the Sherwin Williams district(s)..
Ability to perform the essential duties of the job with/without reasonable accommodation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required to effectively communicate and influence.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g. OPT CPT H1B EB-1etc.)
- Must have a valid unrestricted drivers license.
Must be able to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must have one (1) year business to business sales experience.
- Must be able to travel 50%.
