Job Summary

The Tahirih Justice Center (Tahirih) is a national nonprofit organization that serves women girls and all immigrant survivors of domestic violence sexual assault trafficking forced marriage and other forms of violence. Tahirihs whole-person approach provides each survivor with free legal support and social services to secure the rights they are entitled to under U.S. law and to build stable lives. Tahirih translates expertise gained from serving our clients for almost thirty years into training education and policy advocacy to ensure that systems laws and policies protect immigrant survivors from violence and exploitation. By amplifying survivors experiences Tahirihs mission is to create a world in which all people share equal rights and live in safety and with dignity.


The Tahirih Justice Center is seeking a full-time Baháí Service Fellow passionate for advocating and supporting survivors of intimate partner violence trafficking and sexual assault to begin in summer 2026 and serve for one year. The fellow must live within commuting distance of our Falls Church VA office or be willing to relocate to the area.


Tahirihs Baháí Service Fellowships were created to enable Fellows to engage in one year of service to humanity and learn from the work of a well-established Baháí-inspired non-profit organization. The fellows who serve in these positions help advance the organizations mission through meaningful professional work to achieve justice while also being of service in cooperation with the local Baháí community through outreach and engagement (up to 8 hours per week).


Primary Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Interdisciplinary responsibilities:

  • Provide referrals to service seekers and former clients in need of information for basic survival and legal needs.
  • Maintain and update referrals resource database comprised of services available in the DMV area.
  • Participate in Coalition and stakeholder meetings across the region and update point of contacts
  • Support the planning of training and presentations across the regions on Tahirihs holistic services
  • Support clients needs beyond the legal case management by providing social services referrals and engaging with social services colleagues in best case management approaches.

Legal Based Responsibilities

  • Conduct prescreens in collaboration with the Client Services and Operations Coordinator to determine service seekers eligibility for Tahirihs legal services.
  • Schedule and assign secondary screenings to attorneys participate in secondary screenings and case intake so to provide ongoing support to the assigned Tahirih attorney on the matter.
  • Assist legal staff with legal file creation and maintenance for new cases.
  • Provide support with the case management of a matter including but not limited to drafting pleadings declaration and supporting documents.

The fellows will also perform service in cooperation with the local Baháí community in which they are living for the duration of the fellowship for up to eight hours per week. The nature of the service will depend on the experience and interests of the Fellow and the activities opportunities and plans in the local Baháí community. The specific service will be selected in consultation with appropriate Baháí institutions but may include engaging in social action projects facilitating or studying within the Institute process and/or attending conferences and gatherings in which Baháí youth social action is explored. The fellows workload at the organization will accommodate time set aside for such community engagement.

Requirements
  • High school diploma and at least two years of work experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity social justice and alignment with Tahirihs (prior employment clubs or activities volunteerism and leadership in these areas)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and consultative team environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Lived experience or experience working with immigrant communities communities in poverty or in social justice movements generally
  • Spanish language skills highly preferred


Annual salary and benefits: Annual salary is $60000 and generous benefits including fully paid employee health vision and dental insurance; a 401(k) defined contribution retirement plan; flexible work schedules; professional development including in-house training programs staff enrichment retreats and other growth opportunities.
