Job Summary
Position Description:
Lead a strategic enterprise initiative to modernize the organizations data platform migrating a legacy SQL Server Data Warehouse to a Azure Databricks-based Lakehouse. The platform will enable scalable analytics enterprise reporting data science and machine learning capabilities across multiple business domains.
As a Senior Engineer you will influence architecture decisions mentor engineers and ensure best practices in data engineering governance and platform design.
Job responsibilities:
Design and implement modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse architectures.
Develop and maintain Azure Databricks notebooks using Python (PySpark) and Databricks SQL.
Design scalable data ingestion frameworks for enterprise data integration.
Build and optimize batch and streaming data pipelines.
Implement Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
Develop pipelines using Azure Databricks Delta Lake Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
Implement CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.
Optimize Spark workloads and Delta Lake performance.
Implement data governance: cataloging lineage and access control.
Collaborate with data architects analysts data scientists and business stakeholders.
Support migration from legacy Data Warehouse environments.
Mentor engineers and contribute to data engineering best practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
5 years in Data Engineering / Data Warehousing.
Hands-on with Azure Databricks (Python / PySpark / Databricks SQL).
Strong experience with SQL data modeling ETL/ELT frameworks and Azure-based data platforms.
Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Delta Lake and CI/CD pipelines.
Expertise in data modeling integration and migration.
Experience building enterprise-grade Data Warehouse or Lakehouse platforms.
Knowledge of cloud-native data architecture principles.
Minimum B2 level of English and fluent command of Polish (both written and verbal) - this is a must
Nice to have skills:
Experience with Delta Lake optimization.
Implementing data governance frameworks.
Familiarity with Unity Catalog streaming architectures and Power BI.
Experience with Azure Data Factory or other orchestration platforms.
Core technologies: Azure Databricks Delta Lake PySpark Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 Unity Catalog Azure DevOps
