Job Summary
Title: Laborer - Wastewater Treatment Plant
Status: Full-time
Hourly Rate: $22.15
Our full-time roles work 35 hours per week with occasional opportunities for overtime.

Under the Department of Public Works (DPW) this Full-time Laborer role performs manual work maintaining the Citys Wastewater Treatment Plant. This position will assist Plant Operators in ensuring the operation and processes of the Wastewater Treatment Plant meets all State and Federal requirements.
Fishers DPW is the only municipal public works department in Indiana to hold the American Public Works Association (APWA) Certification which recognizes agencies that meet compliance with the recommended management practices set forth in the Public Works Management Practices Manual.
Examples of Duties
Clean shop and equipment as necessary
Assist in performing duties to maintain the technical operation of the Plant
Grounds maintenance
Other work to assist DPW in daily responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Possess a valid Indiana drivers license with ability to be insured to drive city vehicles which includes 3 years experience as a licensed driver;
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs;
- Working knowledge of light to heavy duty vehicles and equipment (trucks tractors small machines etc.);
- Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance;
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of people;
- Able to handle several projects at the same time;
- Experience in wastewater treatment or related field preferred;
- Must be able to work nights and weekends for a rotating on-call schedule and based on business needs.
