Position Summary:

The Co-ops support product or process development activities related to the design research and manufacturing of Fresenius Medical Cares Home Hemodialysis and Critical CareNxStageproduct portfolio. As part of the R&D team the Co-ops willparticipatein testing design building samples and other activities required by the project -ops in this role will gain opportunities to work more independently and take onadditionalresponsibilities within their teams. Depending on the project Co-ops may be involved with system engineering hardware mechanical engineering ordisposablesengineering.

Core Responsibilities:

Participatein design or development of new medical equipment or disposables and/or upgrades to existing products

Assistwith major projects or phases of projects to resolve advanced and complex technical problems

Ensure all design activities conform to design controls; and that all analysisdesignand testing activities are properly documented

Participatein activities to ensure design and process shortcomings areidentifiedand appropriately addressed

Assistthe product development team in the adoption and use of best practices and design methodologies

Debug and develop reliability improvements for existing products and products under development.

Provide technical support forproduct engineering design development integrationtestand evaluation

Investigate the feasibility of new projectssystemsor approaches

Learn about and work in ways that are compliant with internal and external standards good manufacturing practices and quality system regulations

Requirements:

Candidate for BS or MS in Mechanical Industrial Plastics Electrical or Biomedical Engineering

Intermediate knowledge of CAD and Technical Drawing creation

Basicunderstanding of product and process development of medical devicesor similar product experience is desired

Priorrelevant workexperienceis preferred such asworking in an FDA defense industryor ISO regulated environment

Understanding ofaspects ofsystem design electronics mechanical and softwareintegrationormanufacturing processesis beneficial

Prior experience designing for rapid prototyping as well as traditional manufacturing techniques desired

Has a constructive approachtoteamwork and collaboration

Demonstratedinterest in medical device or pharmaceutical industries

Excellent technical communication skills and attention to detail including creating and editing technical procedures protocols and reports

Commitment to performing all tasks with quality and integrity
