Position Summary:
The Scheduler Radiology supports patient access to imaging services by coordinating appointments verifying required information and facilitating clear communication between patients technologists and clinical departments. This role manages both in-person and phone-based scheduling requests ensures accuracy of orders and registration details and assists patients in understanding preparation requirements for imaging procedures. Working as part of a collaborative access and imaging team the scheduler helps maintain efficient radiology operations while delivering professional courteous service. Through attention to detail and consistent communication this position contributes to a positive patient experience and well-organized imaging workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule reschedule and cancel radiology appointments in person and by phone ensuring accurate documentation of appointment status no-shows and cancellations.
- Verify patient demographics insurance details and service orders to ensure correct and complete information prior to imaging services.
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding preparation requirements arrival times and follow-up needs for radiology procedures.
- Maintain accurate data entry in scheduling and electronic health record systems supporting efficient workflow and communication with radiology staff.
- Greet and assist patients in waiting areas offering courteous timely support and addressing questions or concerns.
- Assist with general administrative tasks including phone coverage document preparation scanning and clerical support to ensure smooth departmental operations.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months of clerical or administrative experience (medical office preferred).
- Experience with computer based scheduling or data systems required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology or coding preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment while maintaining professionalism. Proficient with computer systems and office software. Demonstrates empathy patience and a service-oriented attitude.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; occasional bending reaching or light lifting (up to 10 lbs). Frequent use of hands and wrists for typing and phone work. Continuous communication with patients and staff. Minimal exposure to occupational hazards (Category III - no expected exposure to bloodborne pathogens).
