Job Summary

Role Summary

We are currently hiring a Financial Analyst (Intermediate) for our public sector client in Edmonton. This role will support a major modernization initiative focused on registry and service systems helping ensure efficient financial operations accurate reporting and strong contract governance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting contract management cost analysis and project auditing supporting operational and strategic decision-making across multiple initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts incorporating actuals trends and projected expenditures.
  • Validate process and track vendor invoices ensuring compliance with contract terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly accrual entries to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Produce budget updates and contract spend reports highlighting variances and financial trends.
  • Support governance reporting through accurate and timely financial data preparation.

Contract Management

  • Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with procurement policies.
  • Prepare and maintain Service Entry Sheets (SES) in SAP / Ariba (1GX) ensuring accurate documentation and approvals.

Project Auditing & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain financial and contracting process documentation.
  • Manage project records following corporate records management and retention policies.
  • Support internal and external audit requests ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Cost Analysis & Financial Modeling

  • Develop cost models and financial analyses to support budgeting and operational planning.
  • Analyze historical and forecast data to identify financial trends risks and opportunities.
  • Present data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration Accounting Finance or a related field

Experience

  • 3 years experience with SAP and Ariba for contract workspace management
  • 3 years experience in financial reporting and budget management
  • 3 years experience working with accounting systems financial processes and transaction management

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards
  • Ability to accurately calculate post and manage accounting figures and financial records

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation (completed or in progress)
  • Experience with contract drafting and contract management
  • Knowledge of trade agreements and financial administration regulations
  • Experience in cost-benefit analysis financial modeling and research analysis
  • Experience in process improvement documentation and requirement gathering
  • Experience working with IT financial processes
