Role Summary
We are currently hiring a Financial Analyst (Intermediate) for our public sector client in Edmonton. This role will support a major modernization initiative focused on registry and service systems helping ensure efficient financial operations accurate reporting and strong contract governance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting contract management cost analysis and project auditing supporting operational and strategic decision-making across multiple initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Prepare monthly financial forecasts incorporating actuals trends and projected expenditures.
- Validate process and track vendor invoices ensuring compliance with contract terms.
- Prepare and submit monthly accrual entries to support accurate financial reporting.
- Produce budget updates and contract spend reports highlighting variances and financial trends.
- Support governance reporting through accurate and timely financial data preparation.
Contract Management
- Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with procurement policies.
- Prepare and maintain Service Entry Sheets (SES) in SAP / Ariba (1GX) ensuring accurate documentation and approvals.
Project Auditing & Compliance
- Develop and maintain financial and contracting process documentation.
- Manage project records following corporate records management and retention policies.
- Support internal and external audit requests ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
Cost Analysis & Financial Modeling
- Develop cost models and financial analyses to support budgeting and operational planning.
- Analyze historical and forecast data to identify financial trends risks and opportunities.
- Present data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration Accounting Finance or a related field
Experience
- 3 years experience with SAP and Ariba for contract workspace management
- 3 years experience in financial reporting and budget management
- 3 years experience working with accounting systems financial processes and transaction management
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards
- Ability to accurately calculate post and manage accounting figures and financial records
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation (completed or in progress)
- Experience with contract drafting and contract management
- Knowledge of trade agreements and financial administration regulations
- Experience in cost-benefit analysis financial modeling and research analysis
- Experience in process improvement documentation and requirement gathering
- Experience working with IT financial processes
