Senior Java Developer
Lansing MI Hybrid

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to design develop and maintain enterprise applications within a State Government agency. The selected candidate will build scalable backend services and APIs while ensuring performance optimization and secure coding practices. This role requires strong experience with Spring Boot relational databases and service-oriented architecture. The ideal resource will participate in architectural discussions and contribute to modernization initiatives. Experience integrating legacy systems and supporting high-availability environments is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs to support cross-system integrations.
- Write optimized SQL queries and maintain database integrity.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Participate in application modernization initiatives.
- Conduct unit testing and integration testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance-related issues.
- Maintain technical documentation and system diagrams.
- Collaborate with QA and business teams during testing cycles.
- Participate in Agile sprint ceremonies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5 years of Java development experience.
- Experience building applications using Spring Boot.
- Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
- Experience implementing secure coding practices.
- Experience working in enterprise environments.
- Ability to debug and resolve production issues.
- Experience using Git and CI/CD tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting State Government projects.
- Experience implementing microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies.
