Position: Ophthalmology Tech Location Avon CO Facility Ophthalmology Length 13 weeks Shift - Days Schedule 4x10 Start Date ASAP Guaranteed Hours 36 The Ophthalmic Technician will work with the ophthalmology team to provide patient care by performing various eye-related clinic tasks. The Ophthalmic technician will assist the provider in various functions as delegated to allow for proper professional diagnosis and treatment of patients conditions. Essential Job Functions Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Prepares patient for scheduled procedures. Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity applanation tonometry pachymetry visual fields corneal topography OCTs lensometry and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline as determined by the clinic team. Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint past ocular/medical history family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications and ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the patient s Electronic Health Record (EHR). Assist with patient pre-op and post-op counseling procedure set up and performing in office procedures. Fields patient phone calls promptly and in a professional manner. Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines. Maintain and clean all equipment/ instruments. Arranges for provider ordered diagnostics or therapeutic services. Ensures cleanliness adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in examination rooms. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures. Assists all providers and other clinical staff as needed and assigned. Follows established departmental policies and procedures objectives OSHA Rules and Regulations environmental and infection control standards. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values. Must be HIPAA compliant License(s) and Certification(s) Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) required Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or for Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT) preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) required
