Senior Citrix VDI Engineer

Location: Buffalo NY Hybrid (4 days per week onsite)
Duration: 6 months (likely extension)

Rate: $70-75/hr on W2

Position Overview

Senior Citrix VDI Engineer to support the modernization and optimization of an enterprise virtual desktop environment.

Key Responsibilities

VDI Platform Engineering

Design implement and maintain enterprise VDI environments using Citrix technologies.
Support large-scale environments serving thousands of enterprise users.
Optimize performance availability and scalability.

Application Delivery & Virtualization

Modernize application delivery using Citrix virtualization technologies.
Support migration from legacy packaging to modern solutions such as MSIX.
Implement modern delivery approaches including AppAttach or application layering.

Infrastructure Integration

Partner with compute networking storage and endpoint teams.
Ensure VDI platforms integrate with enterprise identity security and endpoint systems.
Support provisioning image management and lifecycle processes.

Automation & Optimization

Automate deployments configurations updates and patching.
Improve operational efficiency through scripting and workflow automation.

Troubleshooting & Support

Diagnose and resolve performance connectivity and user experience issues.
Troubleshoot Citrix infrastructure components including Delivery Controllers Brokers and VDAs.

Collaboration

Work with engineering application development and operations teams to ensure platform stability.
Contribute to VDI roadmap planning and modernization initiatives.

Required Qualifications

8 years supporting Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.
Strong experience in Citrix VDI engineering and administration.
Experience with application virtualization (Citrix MSIX etc.).
Knowledge of AppAttach application layering or equivalent technologies.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale Windows VDI environments.
Experience with VDI modernization projects.
Familiarity with image management and desktop provisioning.
Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure and application layers.
Experience modernizing large legacy VDI environments.
Experience working in enterprise highly regulated environments.
Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell).
Experience integrating VDI platforms with enterprise monitoring and security tools.
Experience supporting large enterprise infrastructure teams.
