Position Title:Behavior Specialist(Elementary)
Reports To: Building Principal
Position Type: Certified / Full-Time / 10 Month Contract
Position Summary:
The Primary Behavior Interventionist supports students in grades K2 by promoting positive behavior building social-emotional skills and helping remove barriers to learning. This role works directly with students in classrooms and collaborates with teachers to implement effective behavior supports and strategies. The Primary Behavior Interventionist serves as a coach and partner to classroom teachers to help maintain safe supportive and productive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support
Provide direct behavioral support to primary students in classroom settings.
Teach and model appropriate social-emotional and behavioral skills.
Support students in developing self-regulation problem-solving and positive peer interactions.
Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans and strategies aligned with MTSS/PBIS frameworks.
Monitor and document student progress and behavioral data.
Teacher Coaching & Collaboration
Work alongside teachers in classrooms to model effective behavior management strategies.
Support teachers in implementing proactive classroom management techniques.
Collaborate with teachers to identify behavior supports that promote student success.
Provide feedback and coaching to teachers on strategies that support positive student behavior.
Schoolwide Support
Partner with grade level teams support staff and administration to address behavioral concerns.
Support implementation of PBIS and other schoolwide behavior initiatives.
Assist in developing strategies to prevent escalation and promote safe learning environments.
Participate in problem-solving meetings related to student behavior and intervention planning.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching license.
Experience working with elementary students particularly in behavior or intervention support.
Knowledge of PBIS MTSS and trauma-informed practices.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

Coaching and mentoring skills
Data-informed decision making
Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
