Job Description
Virtusa is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Developer to join our Production Management team in London as part of a multi-year transformation program within a complex large-scale and highly regulated technology environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design development and end-to-end implementation of software solutions across cross-departmental and multi-disciplinary platforms. This role requires strong expertise in Java Full Stack development containerisation Kubernetes GitOps and modern engineering practices and will play a key role in driving engineering excellence and automation within Production Management.

This position is part of a strategic transformation journey focused on establishing best practices promoting a strong engineering culture and ensuring successful adoption of modern Software Engineering Principles Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
The role requires a deep understanding of how different technology and business functions interact with accountability for delivering high-impact projects end-to-end. The candidate must be comfortable working in a global onshore / offshore delivery model and operating in a highly regulated enterprise environment.
This role is based in London with a hybrid model (3 days per week in office).

Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain scalable secure and resilient applications using Java Full Stack technologies (Java Spring Boot React REST APIs).
Demonstrate strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and its integration within enterprise technology landscapes.
Work in a global delivery environment with onshore nearshore and offshore teams using matrix reporting structures.
Operate within a highly regulated environment ensuring compliance with internal and industry standards.
Improve service levels by strengthening incident management problem management monitoring and knowledge-sharing practices.
Drive Continuous Delivery automation and performance improvements using GitOps CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code.
Develop and deploy applications using containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Promote a culture of innovation transparency and engineering best practices across the team.
Coach and mentor team members identify anti-patterns and implement improvements.
Implement Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban and ensure alignment with organisational processes.
Communicate project progress clearly and manage stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Contribute to short- and medium-term planning of resources technical solutions and delivery milestones.

Required Qualifications

Strong experience in a senior software development role with high business impact.
Excellent hands-on experience as a Java Full Stack Developer (Java Spring Boot React APIs).
Strong knowledge of Containerisation Kubernetes Docker and GitOps practices.
Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals (networking operating systems virtualisation containerisation).
Experience with CI/CD Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools (Terraform CloudFormation Jenkins GitHub etc.).
Experience running applications at scale using Kubernetes service mesh (Istio) and cloud platforms is highly desirable.
Strong debugging and analytical skills across application database and infrastructure layers.
Experience with middleware technologies such as Kafka / MQ is desirable.
Experience with observability / monitoring tools such as Datadog Dynatrace AppDynamics etc.
Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban).
Degree in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Physics or related field is preferred.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to work in London office 3 days per week (hybrid model).
