We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor is to work with a major DNO from their local office in Tadcaster.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will support our project managers and clients with the development and management of projects from concept and design through project delivery and finally on to financial close. Projects are varied in size and scale with some at the forefront of the UKs drive to decarbonise the power industry. You will be part of a multi-disciplined team ensuring the commercial aspects of the projects are appropriately managed to the highest quality and in accordance with the client stakeholder and/or regulatory requirements. You will support our Project Managers with contract management activities predominately using the NEC3 and NEC4 form of contract and occasionally FIDIC based construction contracts.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external parties
- Support the project team in establishing commercial contracts and providing risk management guidance
- Undertaken procurement activities for the company as well as on behalf of clients including preparing and sending enquiries to sub-contractors inviting them to tender undertaking tender analysis and preparing recommendation to award
- Supporting the Project Manager in the preparation of Early Warnings (EW) Compensation Events (CE) and Project Managers Communications (PMI)
- Responsible for cost assurance activities on a portfolio of projects ensuring applications for payment are justified and accurate
- Provide contract and risk management support including participating in Risk Reduction meetings
- Monitor and report on expenditure on contracts compared to budgets and forecasts
- Seek to minimise the cost of a project and enhance value for money whilst still achieving the required standards and quality
- Prepare and manage cashflow forecasts
- Prepare and maintain cost reporting for internal & external stakeholders
- Assist to avoid disputes with clients suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting in the compilation of commercial / contractual responses to the client and subcontractors
- Give feedback to the relevant parties with regards to contract pricing and profit and loss
- Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with clients and sub-contractors as required
- Ensure that contractors programmes are realistic and managed in accordance with system access and project sponsor requirements
- Ensure that all contract/project activities adhere to current legislation and Client policies and procedures.
- Regular attendance at construction sites to review and monitor contractor progress to verify compensation events and applications for payment.
- Ensure compliance with commercial and financial governance processes
- Maintain accurate records of all commercial and contract administration activities.
Requirements
- Must be a self-starter capable of working remote from management
- Experience of working on high voltage substation construction projects is desirable although not essential
- Experience of working with NEC and FIDIC forms of contract
- Fully conversant with using MS Outlook suite of applications and highly proficient in the use of MS Excel
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Must have own car with full driving licence and be willing to travel for company business.
Location
This role is Hybrid with 3 days on site in Tadcaster.
