Job Summary

Under the Selborne contract working in collaboration with Fisher Capita strategic partner
to offer modern and progressive RN training to our international partners meeting Defence
Engagement objectives. IDT(RN)s responsibilities as an intelligent customer will be
discharged through the Authority component of the Training Management Group (TMG)
within the Personnel and Training Directorate.
The TMG is the key forum for collaborative working between the Authority and the
Contractor at a corporate level and for the day-to-day management and oversight of the
training service. The Authoritys role as customer within the TMG is to oversee assure
consult inform and influence not to determine how the Contractor delivers the contracted
services. The TMG operates on a collaborative basis with joint-working between the
Authority and Contractor to help each Party achieve their aligned objectives.

Job Purpose

Primary - As part of the IDT team in the southwest the post holder will help manage
coordinate and develop the delivery of international training at the Training Establishment
(TE) locations identified below. Particularly the post holder will assist the LO(SW) in the
support of up to 20 international cadets annually participating on the international degree
programme and the c.120 international cadets on the three Royal Navy International
Acquaint (RNIA) programmes each year.

Under the IDT LO(SW) direction the IDT CPO(SW) will:



Assist the IDT(RN) LO(SW) and IDT(RN) WO1 with coordination and oversight
of IDT activity at BRNC CTCRM RM Instow RALEIGH DRAKE SEAHAWK and
HERON. Particularly assisting individuals attending the RMYOC and associated
candidate preparation courses.

Assist the IDT(RN) LO(SW) and IDT(RN) WO1 in the management of and
delivery to up to 120 international cadets the three annual RNIA programmes in
BRNC Dartmouth / HMS RALEIGH ensuring full cooperation between the
Authority and the this delivery the post holder will liaise directly with
TE stakeholders outside organisations and the attending partner nations
representatives helping to resolve any issues coordinate attendance and ensure
successful completion.

Act as: an Assistant Divisional Officer to all international trainees undertaking
training at BRNC prior to pre-INT(O); a point of contact for those on INT(O); and
then an Assistant Divisional Officer to the individuals completing the University of
Lincoln International Degree Programme.

As directed by IDT LO(SW) and/or IDT(RN) WO1 liaise with national and
international authorities as well as RN training groups/units/elements Team Fisher
and other supporting staff as required to ensure the smooth delivery of IDT(RN)
arranged training.

As required by IDT LO(SW) support partner nation visits to the TEs.
f. Support the IDT(RN) WO1 in the management of the international
accommodation plans at BRNC to ensure the successful coordination of the
International Degree Programme and the RNIA liaising directly with all parties
concerned to manage all the international cadets prior to pre-INT(O) and
subsequent to INT(O).

As directed provide input for staff papers briefings and other correspondence
on the subject of international training including as required end of term progress
reports for those studying prior to pre-INT(O) and feedback for Phase 2
Midshipmen for their development and Command/Embassy information
The post holder shall note that these approved TORs seek to describe the extent of the
role and its responsibilities as far as practicable. Ultimately however it is up to the
individual to achieve the job purpose using their leadership professional ability and
management skills. Thus these TORs should not be seen as prescriptive and post
holders are expected to exercise initiative and be innovative which may require operating
outside their these circumstances post holders are not to be constrained by their
TORs in achieving success but must ensure that their line manager and others are kept
informed as appropriate.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for: Percentage


  • Assist the IDT LO(SW) as poc in the SW for coordination of IDT
    activity at BRNC CTCRM RM Instow RALEIGH DRAKE
    SEAHAWK and HERON. (20%)

  • Assist the IDT(RN) LO(SW) and IDT(RN) WO1 in the management
    of and delivery to up to 120 international cadets the three RNIA
    programmes in BRNC Dartmouth / HMS RALEIGH ensuring full
    cooperation between the Authority and the Contractor (25%)

  • Act as: an Assistant Divisional Officer to all international trainees
    undertaking training at BRNC prior to pre-INT(O); a point of contact
    for those on INT(O); and then an Assistant Divisional Officer to the
    individuals completing the University of Lincoln International Degree
    Programme. (25%)
  • Liaise with other RN training groups/units/elements; contractors and
    other supporting staff to ensure the smooth delivery of international
    training. (10%)
  • Provide input for staff papers briefings and other correspondence in
    the subject of international training as required by IDT(RN). (5%)

  • As directed by IDT LO(SW) liaise with national and international
    authorities in the execution and delivery of international training. (10%)
  • To champion and promote the maintenance of Royal Navy
    Standards and Ethos with emphasis on all aspects of diversity and
    inclusivity within the TMG; (5%)

AUTHORITY

The TMG IDT CPO has the following authority:


Line management responsibility to exercise functional authority over all
international trainees undertaking training prior to pre-INT(O) and post-INT(O).
Liaise as necessary both internally and externally on matters related to areas of
responsibility.

The post holder will be required to undertake all MOD Mandatory Training related to the
post and site and to support the training of direct reports.

The post holder will be required to maintain the currency of their knowledge and skills
relating to training/ education policies standards theories and methodologies through
ongoing CPD.
