Job Summary
- High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A equivalency at least 12 college hours required)
- Must meet minimum Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) hiring standards and licensure requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizenof the United States at time of hire
- Must meet minimum admission standards for the NCTCOG Regional Police Academy Basic Police Officer Training Course
- Must successfully complete all phases of the departmental selection process prior to attending the NCTCOG Regional Police Academys Basic Peace Officer Certification Program
- Must possess a valid Texas driver license
- Must meet all licensing requirements of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Educations (TCLEOSE) at the time of hire
- Must successfully complete an intensive background investigation
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
- Ability to subdue offenders including use of firearms and handcuffs
- Ability to assess hazardous situations and determine appropriate course of action
- Ability to operate a district vehicle and be eligible for coverage by districts insurance carrier
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working and community relations
- Ability to work well with youth and adults
- Ability to adhere to district and departmental grooming standards
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Attend classes and maintain comprehensive notebooks of subjects covered in classes
- Prepare research papers
- Complete homework assignments
- Participate in the physical training program firearms training program defensive tactics program and practical problems
- Participate in classroom discussions and group projects
- Complies with assignments and instructions given by the RPA as well as the Dallas ISD Police Department Chief of Police or designee
- Adhere to all NCTCOG RPA rules and regulations; Dallas ISD policies and procedures Dallas ISD Police Department policies and procedures and the Dallas ISD Police Department General Orders - Code of Conduct
- Occasionally drive or operate Dallas ISD vehicles
- Perform all other task and duties as assigned
