Job Summary

Widener University is currently seeking a Grant Project Coordinator for the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant Program. This position plays a pivotal role in facilitating and overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive public health and evidence-based approach aimed at enhancing behavioral health services for college students. This position is responsible for coordinating efforts to prevent and reduce suicide depression serious mental illness (SMI)/serious emotional disturbances (SED) and substance use disorders among college students. The Project Coordinator will work to promote help-seeking behavior reduce stigma associated with mental health challenges and improve the identification and treatment of at-risk students to ensure their academic success.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and project lead and falls under the division of Student Engagement and Transformation. The office of CAPS applies a holistic approach to help students achieve greater self-awareness and self-regulation improve relationships and attain independence as they progress toward successful degree completion. CAPS staff work closely across campus with multiple departments to support student health and position is renewable annually.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Essential Duties:

Program Coordinator

  • Coordinate all aspects of the GLS Grant Campus Suicide Prevention Grant Program including planning implementation and evaluation of program activities.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders including administrators faculty staff and students as well as community partners to ensure effective program implementation and sustainability.

Resource Management

  • Manage program resources efficiently including budget oversight procurement of supplies and services and adherence to grant funding guidelines.

Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver training sessions and educational materials to increase awareness of mental health issues promote help-seeking behavior and reduce stigma among college students and staff.

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Collect analyze and report data on program outcomes and effectiveness in accordance with grant requirements and reporting timelines.

Quality Improvement

  • Continuously assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement through feedback mechanisms and data analysis.

Risk Assessment and Intervention

  • Collaborate with campus counseling services and other relevant departments to identify and support students at risk of suicide depression or substance use disorders providing appropriate interventions and referrals as needed.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate program documentation and ensure compliance with grant requirements university policies and relevant laws and regulations.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission values and goals of the Counseling & Psychological Services and Widener University.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Public Health Psychology Social Work or a related field.
  • Minimum of 23 years of experience in project management or community outreach. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Previous experience in project coordination preferably in a higher education or public health setting.
  • Knowledge of suicide prevention strategies mental health promotion and evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis including experience with statistical software and database management.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity equity and inclusion in all aspects of program planning and implementation.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field.

  • Occasional outreach or programming may take place outside standard weekday business hours.
