Responsibilities
The Technical Specialistsprimary job function includes efficiently and effectively handling advanced-levelseverity and complexity Commercial Auto Hired Non-OwnedAuto and/or third-partyGeneralLiability losses.Anability to communicate both verbally and in written form in a promptcourteousand professional manner is essential.
Customer Service
- Promptly reviews and acts with urgency inestablishinginitial andsubsequentcontact with all parties and key stakeholders.
- Provide quality customer service and ensure file qualitytimelycoverage analysis and communication with insured based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case.
- Effective andtimelycommunication with insureds insured general counsel and making exceptional customer service a top priority
- Updateappropriate partiesas needed providing new facts as they become available and their impact upon theliabilityanalysis and settlement options.
Coverage
- Analyzes and interprets policy language in conjunction with specific loss facts to reachappropriate coveragedecisions.
- Proactively communicates with internal and external stakeholders includinginsuredsregardingcoverage decisions
Data Integrity
- Maintain discipline in securing and updating key information within the claim handling platform throughout the life of the claim.
Reserving
- Establishes andmaintainsappropriate initialandsubsequentloss and expense reservesthroughout the life of the claim.
- Act with urgency in collaborating with internal stakeholdersregradingsignificant changes within claim reserving.
Investigation
- Directly investigate each claim through prompt andstrategically-appropriatecontact withappropriate partiessuch as policyholdersaccounts claimants law enforcement agencies witnesses agents medicalprovidersand technical experts todeterminethe extent of liability damages and contribution potential.Interviewwitnesses and stakeholders; take necessary statements as strategicallyappropriate.
- Evaluate all claims for recovery potential; directly handle recovery efforts and/or engage and direct Company resources for recovery efforts.
Evaluation and Resolution
- Manageslitigated claims.
- Develop litigationplanwith defense or coverage counsel including discovery and legal expenses toassureeffective resolution and to satisfy customers.
- Attend depositions mediations arbitrations pre-trialstrialsand all other legal proceedings as needed.
- Completing Large Loss notices as
- Utilizediarymanagement system to ensure that all claims arehandled timely. At required time intervals evaluate liability and damages exposure.
- Managing vendors involved with claim filesi.e.Independent Adjusters Defense Attorneys and Coverage Counsel
Knowledge Transfer
- Attend and/or present at roundtables/ authority discussions for collaboration of technicalexpertiseresulting in improved payout on indemnity and expense.
- Share experience and deep knowledge of creative resolution techniques to improve the claim results of others.
- Assistwith coaching training and mentoring team members
Industry Trends
- Maintains current knowledge of insurance line court decisions which mayimpactthe claim function current guidelines in the claim function and policy changes and modifications
- Attend professional and/or continuing educational seminars and classes
Qualifications
- Have or ability to obtain adjuster license in required states
- Claims handling experience in all lines of property and casualty commercial insurance
- Candidate willpossessexcellent communication (verbal/written) organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starting self-motivating and capable of making decisions independently
Education Requirement
- Bachelors degreeor prior related insurance experience
- Insurance related designation (AIC SCLA and/or CPCU) preferred
