Position Purpose
The Youth Services Team Leader reportingto the Senior Manager will lead and support staff in the development anddelivery of holistic youth services across the organisation including theAboriginal-led Village 21. Village 21 is an innovative culturally groundedaccommodation and mentoring model designed to support Aboriginal young peopleto strengthen independence cultural identity and life skills within a supportedcommunity environment. The role provides culturally safe trauma-informed and strengths-basedguidance to support young Aboriginal people in building independence culturalidentity family connection and engagement in education training or role will encompass broader responsibilities across multiple aspects ofyoung peoples lives including housing wellbeing and community connection.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated understanding of andcommitment to Aboriginal culture community and self-determination with theability to embed culturally safe practice in services supporting Aboriginalyoung people.
Demonstrated experience in leading andsupervising staff including performance management coaching and supportingprofessional development within a youth or community services context.
Proven ability to exercise a high levelof responsibility and autonomy providing specialist advice and guidance acrossyouth programs and complex practice matters.
Strong knowledge of the needsstrengths and challenges experienced by Aboriginal young people includingunderstanding the causes and impacts of homelessness intergenerational traumaand systemic disadvantage.
Demonstrated experience in holisticassessment case management and coordinated referral pathways that supportyoung people across multiple life domains including housing wellbeingeducation and employment.
Highly developed communication andinterpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully and effectivelywith Aboriginal young people families Elders community members and diversestakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage riskmaintain confidentiality and uphold ethical and legislative requirementswithin youth and community service delivery.
Well-developed organisational andadministrative skills including experience with data systems reportingrequirements and Microsoft Office application.
Qualifications and RegistrationsRequirement (Essential or Desirable).
Valid Victorian drivers licence ESSENTIAL
Degree with substantial experience/portgraduate qualification or Diploma with substantial experience ESSENTIAL
A satisfactory Working with ChildrenCheck and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islanderbackground DESIRABLE
Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGACrequirements ESSENTIAL
