I. Job Summary
Performs highly complex training and development work. Work involves coordinating organizing and conducting training sessions using a variety of training methods; and providing guidance to others. Works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
II. Essential Functions
A. Evaluates and analyzes training needs in the Safe Prisons and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Programs; formulates and develops plans and procedures to meet specific training on awareness and prevention of prison violence sexual abuse sexual assault sexual harassment and extortion; develops and supports peer education; researches develops and evaluates training programs and materials; and recommends modifications as appropriate.
B. Develops and prepares training curricula and course outlines; selects and develops instructional methods training aids manuals and other materials; plans designs and develops methods for the assessment and evaluation of training effectiveness; and maintains training database information and records.
C. Develops procedures for the inmate peer education program; coordinates and conducts training to include unit victim representatives and specialized investigation training; and assists in conducting training for other Safe Prisons and PREA programs.
D. Provides liaison with management regional staff unit staff other departments of the agency other agencies and community organizations; and responds to inquiries regarding Safe Prisons and PREA Programs training.

III. Minimum Qualifications
A. Education Experience and Training
1. Bachelors degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Education a Behavioral Science Criminal Justice or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required four years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
2. Four years full-time wage-earning training teaching staff development or correctional custody experience.
3. Experience in developing or conducting training programs preferred.
4. Crisis intervention or counseling experience preferred. 5. Correctional custody experience preferred.
B. Knowledge and Skills
1. Knowledge of correctional facilities operations.
2. Knowledge of critical incident care methods techniques practices and procedures.
3. Knowledge of group process group dynamics and classroom management.
4. Knowledge of correctional methods techniques practices and procedures.
5. Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws rules regulations and statutes.
6. Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure policies procedures rules and regulations preferred.
7. Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
8. Skill to coordinate with other staff departments officials agencies organizations and the public.
9. Skill to interpret and apply rules regulations policies and procedures.
10. Skill to assess and evaluate training effectiveness.
11. Skill to develop instructional materials and utilize instructional aids.
12. Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
13. Skill to conduct training.
14. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing spreadsheet database and presentation software programs.
IV. Additional Requirements with or without Reasonable Accommodation

B. Conditions include working inside working around machines with moving parts and moving objects radiant and electrical energy working closely with others working alone working protracted or irregular hours and traveling by car van bus and airplane.
C. Equipment (machines tools devices) used in performing only the essential functions include computer and related equipment calculator copier fax machine telephone weapons restraining devices dolly and automobile.
