Job Summary
Gulf Copper is currently seeking an experienced Plate Fitter to join our team. All applicants must successfully pass all required preemployment screening test.
- project location Guam
- project duration 2 months
- full time job of 70 hours per week
- certifications and training required: drivers license and or passport
- meal per diem $72
- company will provide housing
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned.
Have the ability tocomprehendand utilize blueprints sketches drawings technical
manuals and work processinstruction.
Welds steel plates andpipein the repair and/or construction of marine vessels industrial componentsand associated equipment.
Have the skills to usevarious typesof welding equipment fordifferent typesof metal.
Weldscomponents ina flat vertical or overheadpositions.
Performs related tasks such as cutting and grinding.
Repairs broken or cracked partsfillsholes and increasessizeof metal parts.
Weldsmetal parts together using gas weldingbrazingarcwelding wire fedwelding or tigwelding process and procedures.
Highly skilled weldersoften aretrained to work with a wide variety of materials such as titanium aluminumor exotic metals in addition to steel.
Select and set up welding equipment execute the planned welds and examine the welds to ensure that they meet standards or specifications.
Required Education & Experience:
High School Diplomasome collegeor technical school certificationsix months to oneyear(s)experienceor equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions:
Open-air conditions such as noisy hot cold etc.
Must be able to stand andoperateequipmentup to fourcontinuoshours.
Mustwear hearing eyeheadprotectionand proper PPE.
Some climbing(100 feet or higher) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
Work on inland and offshore bargesor in industrialsettings.
Enter roundmanholeswith inside diameters of 18 and other internally confined spaces.
Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights.
