About the Opportunity

The University of Wollongong is seeking a Student Support Coordinator to join the Division of Student Services and contribute to the delivery of high-quality wellbeing and support services for students across our metropolitan campuses. Working collaboratively with students academic staff professional services and external agencies the role provides specialised advice and coordinated support to assist students experiencing personal academic or wellbeing challenges to remain engaged and successfully progress through their studies.

The Student Support Coordinator provides intake triage and welfare support to students presenting with a range of immediate or complex needs. Applying trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches the role works with students to assess their circumstances develop support strategies and coordinate referrals to relevant internal and external services. The position also supports students affected by critical incidents and assists them in navigating university processes and accessing appropriate supports.

This role contributes to a holistic and proactive approach to student wellbeing by working closely with colleagues across the University to identify emerging issues support preventative initiatives and enhance the overall student experience. The position maintains strong working relationships with faculties student residences and professional services to ensure coordinated and timely care for students.

Position Description

The successful candidate will be required to produce a valid Working with Children Check and a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.

About You

The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as social work psychology welfare or a related field or possess an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training. You will demonstrate experience providing specialised support in complex environments strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students from diverse backgrounds while navigating policies and processes within a higher education context.
