Role Overview

The Marine Maintenance and Construction Team Member supports the maintenance fabrication and minor capital works associated with Flinders Ports infrastructure including wharfs marine structures buildings and general port assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and steel fabrication work to our new and existing marine assets both in and out of a workshop environment;

  • Operate equipment such as cranes forklifts winches and mechanical tools including handling heavy construction plant and vessels;

  • Install and maintain port infrastructure formwork painting mooring systems and temporary work platforms;

  • Work collaboratively with team members report hazards or concerns to the Team Leader and ensure smooth daily operations; and

  • Work independently or in a team follow complex instructions apply quality control techniques and provide support to colleagues.

About you

Your skills and experience will include -

  • Trade qualifications as a boilermaker and metal fabrication certifications;

  • Previous experience in a marine environment desirable but not essential;

  • Experience carrying out various maintenance activities and in the use of general plant and equipment;

  • Experience working in construction fabrication or maintenance;

  • Knowledge of WH&S practices that apply to general labouring work and ability to conduct and interpret JSEAs; and

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with limited supervision.
