Reimagine Whats Possible

The Manager Driver Safety leads the strategy and execution of driver and fleet safety programs across North America with a strong emphasis on innovation optimization datadriven insight learning from incidents and consistent application of safety standards. This role partners closely with regional leaders Safety Specialists Driver Trainers terminals and logistics teams to identify risk trends strengthen driver capability and continuously improve safety performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead industry safety benchmarking efforts comparing Air Products driver safety performance training approaches and incident trends against external peers associations and recognized best practices while also keeping up with industry innovation.
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for program improvements policy updates and leadership decisionmaking.
  • Represent Air Products on external fleet and driver safety forums and committees (e.g. CGA Fleet Safety Committee) to gather insights and share learnings internally.
  • Oversee and validate highquality RCAs for vehicle incidents regulatory events and significant operational deviations.
  • Synthesize RCA findings into clear actionable insights and communicate them to terminals regional leaders and crossfunctional partners to drive systemic risk reduction.
  • Identify recurring patterns and trends across incidents using analytics tools and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into procedures training materials and coaching expectations.
  • Drive a culture of databased safety leadership using leading indicators lagging metrics and performance dashboards.
  • Develop consistent routines for sharing safety data and insights with operations logistics engineering and leadership teams to support risk prioritization and fleet performance strategy.
  • Use data to focus field engagement identify emerging risks and guide continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide functional leadership and governance for driver safety systems (e.g. telematics driver performance management coaching tools) ensuring they are fit for purpose and effectively used.
  • Establish and maintain driver safety training standards and oversee development and updates to training programs related to driver qualification onboarding evaluations and emergency response.
  • Ensure consistent application of training and coaching expectations across terminals and operating groups leveraging LMS platforms (e.g. Workday Learning) as appropriate.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation that leads to ongoing value creation.
  • Lead the development implementation and maintenance of driver and vehicle safety policies procedures and programs across North America.
  • Oversee road observations driver evaluations accident investigations and regulatory compliance audits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of DOT regional and hazardous materials regulations and ensure alignment with internal safety requirements.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture and serve as a visible role model for operational discipline accountability and ethical leadership.
  • Support contractor safety oversight activities to ensure alignment with Air Products driver safety standards and expectations.
  • Provide driver safety input into contractor selection onboarding and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Support integration of driver safety requirements for new or expanded contracted transportation services.
  • Actively participate in the Global Driver Safety Community of Practice (CoP) to share North American insights learn from other regions and stay informed on emerging risks and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal EHS operations logistics and training partners to ensure coordinated and effective safety improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience preferred in Driver/Fleet Safety Terminal Operations or DOT/Fleet regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting incident data identifying trends and using insights to influence operational and leadership decisions.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial fleet operations hazardous materials transportation and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively across regions and functions.
  • Excellent communication analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Preferred: Bachelors degree in a technical field (Engineering Supply Chain Safety or related discipline).
  • Spanish language capability is a plus.
