Job Summary
The Physical Therapist (PT) Acute Care Hospital provides evaluation treatment and rehabilitation services to patients recovering from illness injury or surgery in an acute care hospital setting. The therapist develops individualized treatment plans to restore mobility improve physical function reduce pain and enhance overall patient recovery.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team the Physical Therapist ensures safe and effective rehabilitation services while promoting patient independence and optimal functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate patients physical conditions functional limitations and rehabilitation needs.
Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans.
Provide therapeutic interventions including exercise therapy mobility training and functional rehabilitation.
Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and mobility techniques.
Document patient evaluations treatments and progress in the electronic medical record system.
Collaborate with physicians nurses and other rehabilitation professionals to coordinate patient care.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies patient safety standards and infection control protocols.
Promote safe mobility and injury prevention during therapy sessions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy Required.
New York State Physical Therapist License Required (or eligibility within one year of hire).
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification Required.
Knowledge of physical therapy practices and rehabilitation techniques.
Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred.
American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) membership preferred.
Experience working in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
