Job Summary

Senior or Principal Instrumentation Engineer

As a Senior or Principal Instrumentation Engineer you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience. The role requires the engineer to undertake control system design activities and provide guidance to projects to optimise process control outcomes.

Reporting to the I&C Lead Engineer you will work on detailed design and execution support scopes across projects with the opportunity to assist other projects as required. This is a full-time role based primarily at Worley Head Office 240 St Georges Terrace Perth with occasional site visits.

The role

  • Deliver discipline-specific engineering services that meet Worley client statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake engineering design and technical verification of project deliverables including initiating managing and supervising engineering resources to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
  • Perform and/or manage discipline-specific engineering activities including:
    • Ensuring project scopes are clearly defined and changes are managed in accordance with project change management processes.
    • Producing or overseeing the production of engineering documentation such as datasheets technical reports work instructions design drawings and calculations.
    • Developing control system design and implementation deliverables including requirements specifications scopes of work functional specifications and test documentation.
    • Participating in project meetings and workshops contributing to progress reporting and adhering to Worley quality and checking procedures.
    • Interfacing with vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
    • Attending factory acceptance testing and vendor integration testing.
    • Undertaking ad-hoc short-term on-site commissioning activities as required.
    • Promoting Safety in Design across control system projects.
    • Reviewing key control schemes on P&IDs and assessing control narratives.
    • Providing support during procurement construction and commissioning activities including requisition preparation and technical bid evaluations.
    • Estimating engineering hours and tracking performance against approved project budgets.
  • Design solutions with appropriate risk levels incorporating HSE requirements across all design elements.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders including workshare teams Lead Engineers/Designers and Project Managers on progress resourcing budgets and technical matters.
  • Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies between Worley and client requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments and technical innovations within the discipline.

About you

  • A recognised engineering degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent with eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Proven experience delivering significant control system design and execution projects.
  • Substantial technical and practical brownfields experience in a similar industry including participation in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
  • Experience within the hydrocarbons and LNG sector is highly regarded.
  • Experience with Honeywell Experion control systems is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working with distributed teams across multiple locations with an interest in mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • Current EEHA competency and FSEng qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong capability in client inter-discipline and construction interface management.
