Recreation & Wellbeing at the University of WisconsinMadison is seeking a self-motivated Grounds & Facility Technician with a passion for outdoor grounds maintenance and hands-on work in a variety of settings. Working across Rec Well facilities provides a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. This position offers the opportunity to start a career at a top-tier university while gaining valuable experience in outdoor field maintenance basic building repairs and light mechanical work. On-the-job training is provided for individuals who are eager to learn and expand their skill set.
This role supports the upkeep of more than 40 acres of athletic fields and outdoor recreation spaces through safe and skilled operation of equipment including zero-turn lawn mowers string trimmers leaf blowers utility vehicles snow removal equipment and various hand and power tools. Daily responsibilities include lawn mowing and string trimming maintaining and grooming approximately 12 acres of synthetic athletic fields maintaining sand volleyball courts and completing trash and debris cleanup across outdoor sports and recreation facilities. The position also assists with the maintenance of grounds equipment and related sports equipment to ensure facilities remain safe clean and ready for use by the campus community.

Grounds Services
Minimum $21.50 Hourly 3 years of relative experience Independently performs routine inspections monitor cleanliness and condition of facilities grounds outdoor sports areas sports equipment and related maintenance equipment. Independently utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery equipment and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation. Independently troubleshoots escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures. Independently receives inspects inventories and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities. Assists trades crafts vendors and technical staff with construction design and operational maintenance as needed. Independently performs basic and routine computer related tasks daily. Properly troubleshoot equipment and facility issues without oversight. Typical work schedule is 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday. On an occasional basis exercise flexibility to work evening or weekend hours. Candidates must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and perform lifting regularly up to 50 lbs. occasionally up to 100 lbs. Depending on qualifications the starting hourly rate for a Facility Technician II position is $21.50 per hour. Actual pay is negotiable and will depend on experience and qualifications.
