Position Summary

Homemakers provide essential in-home support to individuals who need assistance due to age illness disability or other health-related conditions. Services may include housekeeping laundry meal preparation errands transportation companionship and respite support.

Our Homemakers play an important role in improving the quality of life of our clients by delivering care in a respectful compassionate and professional manner in accordance with agency policies and industry standards.

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with meal planning and meal preparation
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as:
    • Making and changing beds
    • Dusting
    • Vacuuming
    • Washing floors
    • Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms
    • Laundry
  • Assist with essential shopping and errands in accordance with the care plan
  • Handle client funds for approved errands when authorized and supervised
  • Support clients in following written special diet plans as outlined in the care plan
  • Escort clients to medical appointments shopping trips errands and outings as specified in the care plan
  • Provide companionship friendship and emotional support
  • Assist clients with communication needs including writing or typing correspondence and researching information
  • Follow the written care plan and all agency policies and procedures
  • Observe changes in the clients condition and report concerns to the Supervisor
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of daily activities observations and service hours
  • Attend orientation in-service training and staff meetings
  • Maintain professional communication with Supervisors and co-workers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Related training or experience is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Valid automobile insurance required
  • Must be in good physical health
  • Must pass agency exam with a score of 75% or higher
