The Service & Team:

The Rehousing Temporary Accommodation team is responsible for the provision of temporary accommodation to households experiencing homelessness. The purpose of this role is to receive and respond to new requests to place and to ensure that temporary accommodation is provided to households to whom the Council owes a duty to temporarily accommodate also be responsible for the placements of clients pending decisions into their homelessness application. To provide a high quality efficient and effective service to clients who require temporary accommodation contributing to negotiations with providers in relation to costs and securing reduced rates where possible. On occasions the officers may be asked to attend visits and often work outside of hours to ensure all emergency placements are made on the day.

We are seeking a dedicated Accommodation Placement Officerto help us continue delivering safe timely placements for those who need them most. No previous experience is needed. However we are looking for someone who can work as part of a close small team; with fantastic communication skills both spoken and written. The role is challenging and varied. You will be working to very tight timescales that cannot be missed so you will need to be adaptable organised and accurate.

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

Monday to Friday 9am 5pm (37 hours per week)

Monday to Friday 10am 6pm (37 hours per week)

Flexibility may be required at times to meet service needs.

What youll need to succeed:

Someone who thrives in a fastpaced environment cares deeply about peoples wellbeing and brings strong organisational and decisionmaking skills. If youre motivated by meaningful work and want to be part of a team that changes lives every single night wed love to hear from you.

Some knowledge of homelessness and housing legislation is beneficial but not essential.

Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and Teams.

Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with clients service colleagues and external organisations.
