Financial Controller
Location: Montreal Quebec Canada
Work Type: On-site Full-time

The Position

The Financial Controller will oversee the companys accounting and financial operations while supporting strategic business decisions. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer this role combines hands-on financial management with strategic financial planning in a fast-paced environment. The Controller will help build scalable financial systems provide insights to leadership and ensure the organization operates efficiently and effectively from a financial perspective.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle accounting including financial reporting budgeting forecasting accounts payable and receivable payroll cash management inventory tracking and tax compliance
Support strategic planning by providing financial insights and identifying risks and opportunities
Develop financial models scenario forecasts and pricing or revenue strategies to support business growth
Implement financial systems processes and internal controls to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy
Monitor inventory accounting and costing processes
Manage relationships with external auditors accounting firms and regulatory agencies
Prepare financial reports for leadership investors and other stakeholders
Support company-wide and departmental budget planning and tracking

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or Business Administration
Minimum 5 years of accounting and finance experience including 2 years in a leadership role such as Accounting Manager or Controller
Experience in financial planning and analysis budgeting forecasting and financial reporting
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial risk management
Experience working in manufacturing technology or high-growth environments preferred
CPA preferred; CFA or startup fundraising experience is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present financial insights to leadership
Advanced Excel and experience with financial dashboards and accounting systems (QuickBooks Online experience preferred)
High attention to detail strong ethics and excellent communication skills
