Expected Duties and Responsibilities:The ideal candidate loves Covenant and wants to be a part of sharing our story with prospective students parents and alumni. The purpose is to develop compelling and emotionally engaging written content that portrays the community academic excellence spiritual formation and professional development that a Covenant education provides. Our goal for this position is to provide relevant work experience that can beused on your résumé as you enter the workforce post-Covenant.
- Draft clear compelling copy in a variety of formats: emails letters articles social media posts and more.
- Edit/proofread/revise letters emails and other drafts from offices around campus.
- Brainstorm content for our Blue Tribune blog.
- Work on other projects and duties as needed.
- Regular content is expected to be produced for use on the Blue Tribune blog and other formats.
Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed
- Career & Self-Development including understanding the basic principles and producing various forms of professional and narrative writing in the workplace specifically in the field of marketing.
- Communication in the form of long-form and short-form writing and internal communication with the marketing team and other constituents in order to conduct interviews and get quotes for marketing materials.
- Critical Thinking in the form of research finding and evaluating texts and resources in order to explore a topic in-depth and reflect all aspects of a specific subject in concise writing.
- Global Literacy is displayed by interacting with interviewing and writing about people from all backgrounds ages cultures and walks of life.
- Leadership through self-initiative in contacting faculty staff and students in order to conduct interviews working independently to complete a writing or editing task and finding new topics for blog posts/print collateral to address in order to best tell the Covenant story.
- Professionalism by adhering to the style guide laid out by the marketing office and the Chicago Manual of Style as well as clocking in and out and maintaining an organized consistent work schedule.
- Teamwork by collaborating with the marketing team and other student workers to edit content and write material as well as interview and communicate with external constituents (student peers staff and faculty) to complete written works.
- Technology use includes Google docs Google Sheets Asana (task management software) and Miro (digital collaboration platform).
