Job Summary:
The Operating Room Assistant supports the surgical team by assisting with patient care including transportation supplies equipment instruments and maintaining a clean environment. This role involves room turnover decontamination and assisting with patient transfers and stocking supplies.
Location:Seattle Washington United States
Responsibilities:
- Performs room turnover and maintains cleanliness of the surgical area equipment and transportation devices.
- Decontaminates instrumentation and equipment for surgical cases.
- Understands and applies basic sterile technique and infection control principles.
- Assists with the setup of the surgical suite.
- Assists with patient transfers and positioning with support from OR staff.
- Assists with obtaining and returning instruments and equipment.
- Stocks cores and rooms with necessary supplies and maintains par levels.
- Returns unused supplies to the appropriate storage area.
- Assists with communication within the OR including answering phones documenting messages and relaying information.
- Assists with transporting and escorting surgical patients and their families.
- Assists with transporting equipment and specimens to the appropriate department.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (proof of completion required).
- BLS Certification.
- Experience in an Operating Room Ambulatory Surgery or Perioperative environment.
- Ability to interpret safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to follow procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- N/A
Special Considerations:
- No weekends.
- No call requirements.
Scheduling:
- 5x8 hour shifts.
- 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
- Monday - Friday.
