Job Summary

Position Summary:The Research Development Manager will implement a wide range of strategic
proactive and capacity building activities designed to enable and enhance academic
research. Working with academic leaders and faculty and student researchers this
person will identify target areas of strength and emerging opportunities and develop
proposals that align with university state and federal priorities. This position focuses on
supporting faculty staff and students by helping them secure funding and build
collaborations while ensuring that they are well informed of emerging opportunities.
Key responsibilities include identifying funding opportunities assisting with grant
proposal preparation and submission and fostering interdisciplinary teams. The
Research Development manager supports early-stage identification analysis planning
and development of strategic multidisciplinary funding opportunities and enables and
enhances the competitiveness of research programs and proposals for external support
through strategic proactive and capacity building activities including funding
opportunity identification research team building and outreach activities with the
ultimate goals of securing large-scale extramural research awards. The successful
candidate will be intellectually curious self-motivated and able to exercise considerable
independent judgement.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors required
5 years relevant experience
Prior experience in grant writing and editing research administration or a related
field
Strong project management organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressures
Ability to effectively interact with and guide diverse teams comprised of faculty
staff and students from multiple technical and academic areas.
Understanding of federal state foundation and industry funding
landscape
Familiarity with research proposal preparation and electronic submission and
tracking systems

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Masters degree
Experience in higher education research administration or research development
Demonstrated success in supporting faculty with grant proposal submissions
Familiarity with limited submission processes and internal award program
management
