Advertised Job Summary
The faculty of the Department of Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Columbia campus invites applications for a 9-month full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin August 16 2026. The position is in the area of algebraic geometry and number theory.
Required Education and Experience
The position requires a Ph.D. in Mathematics by the start date of the appointment an outstanding research record a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and a demonstrated potential for excellence in both research and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate has an established research program in algebraic geometry and number theory.
Preferred research areas are p-adic geometry and p-adic Hodge theory.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program and publication record.
The successful candidate is expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels courses at the graduate level in the Department of Mathematics.
