Bookbot is a re-commerce platform where over 10 million books have already changed hands. Every day we send around 25000 books to new homes. We operate in 9 European markets (CZ SK AT DE SP IT FR NL BL).

Were looking for an experienced Lead Developer to manage and support our team focused on Customer experience. You will participate in creating a new functionality for the portal including solution proposals planning and code quality assurance. A technological growth and legacy code reduction will be your daily coffee. The Product owner of this team is Oskar Stierand.

What can you expect:

• Development of a re-commerce portal. Code reviews and management of a team of 5 colleagues.
• Our current focus is on a portal facelift and building a new design system library.
• Exploration has long been one of our themes - we want to help users find relevant books easily and efficiently.
• Were working a lot on gradually rewriting most of the portal to new technologies improving CX. One such place is the shopping cart which is due for major changes soon!
• Of course we are developing new features not only for the Czech Republic but also for all new markets such as Spain France or Italy.
• Our developers are not code monkeys - discussion is important to us. We are not afraid to rethink things and choose a different approach in the course of our work.
• We like to be proactive so anything that strikes your book/programmer fancy well be happy to do! There are no limits :).

Tech Stack:

• Backend: Typescript (AdonisJS on older things NestJS on the new ones) MySQL Redis Manticore Kafka)
• Frontend: SWR MaterialUI BaseUI
• Infrastructure: We run everything on Kubernetes in AWS.
• Legacy parts of the system are technologically mixed (mainly PHP) but when we interfere with them we gradually rewrite them into Typescript.

Your profile looks ideally like this:

• You have extensive experience with the technologies mentioned above (or similar can handle re-learning).
• You have led development teams and projects in the past.
• A nice bonus is definitely knowledge of: Accessibility and Strapi (or other headless CMS)

How we work:

• We run two-week sprints and review our backlog twice a week.
• Once a week we meet for Backend Tech and Frontend Tech meetings with the rest of the devs. Every two weeks we dive into technical discussions for new features.
• Were honest direct and like to laugh at even the most politically incorrect jokes.
• Our office is at Kolbenova metro station and we work onsite with flexible working hours.
• Our whole development team currently consists of 18 members (17 developers CTO).
• We discuss technology challenges at tech meetups and regularly hold evangelistic meetups on technology and programming approaches.
