Salary Schedule is based on the 2026-2027 school year. New hires typically begin at Step 1 on the Salary Schedule. The Siuslaw School District allows step credit the salary scale for years of certified teaching experience.
This is a 10-month/renewable position that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.

TITLE:Speech Language Pathologist 1.0 FTE Certified
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Evaluates designs and implements specially designed instruction for children with communication disorders.
ASSIGNMENT:Siuslaw School District serving students K-12.
REPORTS TO: Special Programs Director
WORK HOURS/LOCATION:
Start time: Flexible to be determined between Speech Language Pathologist and Special Programs Director
End Time: Flexibleto be determined between Speech Language Pathologist and Special Programs Director
Days: Monday - Friday

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree.
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist License issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology & Audiology and/or a Valid Oregon Teaching License with a Communications Disorders or Speech Impaired Endorsement all levels.
- Certification of Clinical Competency issued by the American Speech and Hearing Association
- Experience providing direct consultative and evaluative itinerant speech/language services to children/students with communication disorders within a school setting.
- Maintains a valid Oregon Drivers License and reliable transportation for itinerant responsibilities.
- Pass required criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
ESSENTIAL PROGRAM FUNCTIONS:
- Works cooperatively with teachers counselors parents and others in the delivery of services to students in the areas of speech and language.
- Ability to organize and maintain efficient time schedule.
- Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
- Supports the philosophy and mission of School District 97J.
- Frequent travel between work sites.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of student and medical records and information related to students parents and staff.
- Is familiar with and adheres to all relevant Board policies and administrative regulations TSPC standards building rules and applicable state and federal law.
- Provides for the health and safety of students in all school settings.
- Maintains all compliance records at a proficient level.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff students and the public.
- Good communication organization and computer skills.
- Strong work ethic.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screens evaluates and identifies individual communication needs for students.
- Designs Individual Education Plans.
- Provides continuum of communication services as dictated by student need.
- Provides collaboration consultation and training to teachers educational assistants and families regarding communication disorders and interventions.
- Communicates with staff and parents regarding individual students progress toward goals.
- Participates in school based multidisciplinary and IEP teams.
- Establishes and maintains professional positive cooperative relationships with administrators staff students parents and the community.
- Achieves and maintains proficient levels of performance as described in the district and school evaluation policies and procedures and as communicated by the administration.
- Uses computer technology for specified program tasks and for use with students as needed for instruction or communication.
- Prepares and maintains required district state and federal records and reports.
- Develops and implements personal and program goals as required by TSPC/Oregon Board of Examiners and School District 97J.
- Develops and maintains positive appropriate professional relationships with students and recognizes necessary boundaries in interacting with students.
- Achieves professional growth as directed by the district through consultation with district support staff attendance at building and district in-service meetings and approved workshops and classes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Stamina for eight hours of student instruction and supervision.
- Repetitive motions such as writing and typing.
- Transportation of student files assessment materials and supplies.
- Standing walking and sitting.
- Occasional physical interaction with students as provided by law and to ensure the physical safety of the student and/or others.
- Occasional bending kneeling squatting climbing of stairs.
- Lifting/carrying: up to 40 lbs.
TERM OF EMPLOYEMENT:Annual Certified Contract
