Position Summary: The Coordinator of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Student Activities is an administrative leader who supports GCVS initiatives that promote student wellness engagement leadership and a positive school climate. This position provides instructional leadership coordinates student activities and supports staff through coaching and evaluation with a focus on SEL-aligned instructional areas and the development of a robust digital citizenship program that fosters responsible and empathetic online behavior. The Coordinator works collaboratively with principals administrators counselors teachers and community partners to integrate SEL practices into curriculum and school culture while ensuring students have equitable access to meaningful co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the development alignment and implementation of SEL initiatives across GCVS
Support grade bands in embedding SEL into classroom practices and routines to enhance classroom engagement
Collaborate with the Curriculum Specialist and the Instructional Designer to map and embed digital citizenship themes (media literacy digital wellness and online ethics) into existing K-12 curricula without increasing teacher prep time
Create and distribute plug-and-play digital citizenship modules and activities that teachers can easily facilitate during homeroom and/or core instruction
Empower student leadership groups to lead peer-to-peer digital citizenship initiatives and manage school-sanctioned digital spaces with a focus on a community
Promote trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices
Analyze SEL and school data to guide improvement and program design
Plan and deliver professional learning for administrators teachers and staff Supervise and evaluate teachers assigned to SEL aligned instructional areas including (but not limited to) Art Music Physical Education/Health and Technology

Collaborate with GCVS Principals to ensure alignment of the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Framework Supervise and enhance the implementation of the InScribe and SchoolSpace technology platforms to foster a community of belonging and engagement and to reinforce positive digital citizenship practices in a virtual environment Hire monitor and support club advisors support K-12 co-curricular and extracurricular programs clubs and student leadership opportunities. Advise and support student government and leadership groups Plan and facilitate student and staff activities to build school spirit (spirit week etc.) Help manage budgets related to student activities fundraising and student organizations Plan organize and implement in person and virtual student meet ups and activities throughout the year Maintain a districtwide student activities calendar and communication processes Build partnerships with families youth serving agencies and community organizations Assist with grants related to SEL and student engagement including implementation and reporting Prepare reports and presentations for administration and the GCVS Board of Trustees The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. Has experience working in SEL student activities and student support services
Demonstrated ability to integrate media literacy and digital wellness into Social Emotional Learning frameworks.
Experience using educational technology to build community and promote responsible decision-making in a digital context
Understanding of instructional practice in arts wellness and enrichment disciplines
Familiarity with the MA Educator Evaluation Framework observation tools and coaching strategies.
Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and methodology of effective virtual teaching
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and SEL theory to GCVS instructional programs
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a student-centered equity-focused approach.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers administrators and parents
Demonstrated exemplary skill in oral and written communications including excellent human relations skills
Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage students that are often disengaged from school activities and the classroom environment
Demonstrate confidence planning school wide programs and events and is able to engage students to the GCVS environment

Experience and Licensure:
Demonstrated leadership experience supporting SEL and student activities
Experience supervising mentoring or evaluating educators preferred
Experience working in or closely with Massachusetts public schools strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in education student services or school leadership
Bachelors degree in Education Counseling or related field required. Masters degree preferred.
Appropriate Massachusetts licensure required or evidence that proves eligibility for appropriate licensure.
Additional training/certification in SEL trauma-informed practices or restorative practices preferred Location Preference: Applicants residing in the Massachusetts area are strongly preferred with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend GCVS events as needed.
