Network Specialist Fixed-Term Contract (Until End of 2026)

This is a fixed-term position until the end of 2026 created to strengthen the team during an important period of network development and operational demand. Depending on business needs and performance extension or a transition to a permanent position may be possible.
Location: Hybrid 3 days per week in the office in Copenhagen
Connectivity is critical infrastructure. When networks fail businesses stop operating payments cannot be processed and essential services may be affected. As a Network Specialist within IP Backbone at GlobalConnect you will be part of the team safeguarding network stability across five countries. This role is for someone who understands the responsibility of maintaining high-availability infrastructure and thrives in complex operational environments.
This job ad is for you who have:
- 510 years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale IP Backbone or ISP networks
- Strong knowledge of IP networking and routing protocols (BGP OSPF IS-IS MPLS/VPN)
- Experience working with multiple network vendors such as Juniper Cisco Huawei or Nokia
- Knowledge of working within the ITIL framework
- A structured and precise approach to troubleshooting complex network issues
Requirements
- Eligibility for Danish security clearance (To be eligible for Danish Security Clearance you need to have been living and working in a NATO/EU country for the last 7 years)
- Fluent English written and spoken
About the role and the team
You will join a highly experienced team responsible for GlobalConnects active IP network infrastructure across Norway Sweden Finland Denmark and Germany.
The team operates as the final escalation point and third-line support for all active IP platforms ensuring stability and availability of our backbone network. If an issue cannot be resolved elsewhere in the organisation it is escalated to this team.
Collaboration is central to how the team operates. Engineers work closely together to analyse incidents prioritise actions and restore services quickly. The team focuses entirely on the technical resolution of issues while customer communication is handled by the manager allowing engineers to focus on solving complex problems.
You will be part of a strong technical environment with experienced colleagues contributing both to operational stability and key infrastructure initiatives during the contract period.
Key responsibilities and what you will do during a typical week
- Act as third-line support and final escalation point for IP Backbone and active network platforms
- Participate in the on-call rotation ensuring 24/7 network availability
- Troubleshoot complex network incidents and perform root cause analysis
- Execute planned maintenance upgrades and migrations during scheduled service windows (typically 24 maintenance windows per week across the team) which may include night work depending on planned activities
- Work closely with colleagues across countries to stabilise and optimise the network infrastructure
- Contribute to long-term improvements automation initiatives and operational efficiency
