The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Specialist works with a companys EDI program maintaining smooth communications for production using EDI tools ensuring smooth transitions when changes or maintenance are required. This generally consists of tasks such as handling inbound/outbound documents conducting auditing handling relevant documents and networking with partners. EDI Specialist work extensively with information technology (IT) staff and other employees to ensure the EDI program is working as intended.
Level of Responsibility
Enhanced task complexity and accountability to customer. Enhanced autonomy in role contributing significantly to team/organizational projects. Accountable for accuracy and efficiency in assigned tasks. Starting to mentor junior staff.
Key Tasks
- Initial contact for troubleshooting inquiries monitoring document transmissions and identifying opportunities to improve relevant processes.
- Implement routine monitoring reporting logging and notifications for EDI transmissions and EDI data quality.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand align business needs for EDI processes and systems implement and track improvements.
- Work with external stakeholders to onboard partners (terminals container yards rail truck invoice customers and track & trace) and new EDI interactions for various External systems and standards.
- Develop and maintain partner relationships and build EDI improvements strategy & roadmap.
- Configure ERP applications analyze and generate reports for EDI Supports the business by troubleshooting EDI for end-user/partner issues.
- Performs Root Cause Analysis on problems document and provide end-users with technical how tos.
- Additional responsibilities may be added or modified to meet changing business requirements.
Qualifications :
Skills / Experience:

- BS/BA in information technology or computer science.
- 5 years of experience working with EDI role (developer analyst specialist or similar).
- Knowledge of data transmissions & messaging protocols (FTP SFTP).
- Knowledge of ANSI X12 standards Knowledge of EDIFACT standards.
- Knowledge of structured language formats and system integrations (CSV XML).
- Well-rounded business IT skills covering incident triage troubleshooting escalation project management impact analysis business analysis and change release management.
- Knowledge in preparation of clear specifications for other development teams.
- Experience working with ERP & financial systems.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell cmd/bat VBS python UNIX and FTP).
- Experience in Transport (Ocean freight & Rail Truck & Supply Chain) an asset.
- Experience in Accounting EDI (Receivable/Payables & Invoicing) an asset.
