The Imaging and Algorithms team provides advanced feature development and system support for x-ray and CT systems. These systems are a vital part of the systems currently in use to ensure the safety of aviation travel municipal buildings and many high traffic public areas.
The Imaging and Algorithms Intern will support this mission by developing hardware or software tools to be used in the factory testing and airport deployment of CT systems in the US and around the world. This individual will work closely with the Technology and Management teams to develop document and deploy these tools.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Job duties to include but are not limited to;
- Learn system logic and signals by the Smiths Detection checkpoint CT system
- Interface with key stakeholders to understand needs of the internal team
- Design and refine a testbed to exercise the CT system functions
- Build testbed based on the design
- Train the user team on proper usage of the system
- Author manuals and development documentation for the final system
- Work on-site at Edgewood MD.
- Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures including business ethics data protection and health & safety
Qualifications :
Education: Degree-track undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience: Experience with basic network engineering principles and processes required; Prefer experience with machine automation design and programming.
Knowledge skills/other attributes:
- Ability to work in matrixed environment with different profession types (i.e. engineers software developers project mangers etc.)
- Programming skills: PLC C Python
- Platform experience working with Jira Confluence Microsoft Office.
- US Citizen preferred; ability to pass a background check and security vetting required
