Position: Summer 2026- Human Resources Internship
Type: Unpaid Internship
Schedule: Part-time unpaid thirteen-week position starting on Monday May 11 and ending on Friday August 7 2026.
Notes on Schedule: Must be available on weekdays for a minimum of 24 hours per week. This is a hybrid opportunity but students must be able to work on-site on twice a week including Tuesdays and Thursdays. Occasional weekend work may be requested for programming needs.
Location: Ohio History Center
Reports to: Volunteer and Intern Program Manager
Summary:
This position will assist with the operations of the volunteer programs at Ohio History Connection. This includes administrative tasks and project management.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Ohio Cup Vintage Base Ball Festival including working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure event success
- Attend meetings alongside the volunteer and intern program manager to learn more about collaboration between multiple parties within and outside of the organization
- Attends program events as needed to learn more about the programs volunteers are involved in
- Assist with an audit of volunteer intern and staff files
- Assists with volunteer intern and staff onboarding
Required Education Skills Experience:
- Must be enrolled in an academic program OR a recent graduate from an academic program (within one year)
- Any majors accepted but preference is with students seeking work in the museum and non-profit field
- Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Willingness to learn Track It Forward (volunteer and intern management software)
Required Competencies:
- Works well both independently and with and in support of colleagues to complete work.
- Demonstrates a potential to communicate well in written and verbal communications including informal mediums like email and meetings
- Must be detailed oriented and able to learn complex processes.
- Must have a genuine curiosity for non-profit and museum work
Other Requirements:
- Must complete a background check and internship onboarding paperwork
- Must create an account and log internships hours via Track It Forward
Education and Experience Outcomes:
- Learn about the administrative tasks of operating an internship and volunteer program at a museum and non-profit
- Learn how to organize a large educational event with multiple stakeholders from planning to implementation.
