The Regional Development team has an exciting opening for an Associate Director for is a full-time permanent position.

The Associate Director of Development will partner with academic leaders volunteers and advancement colleagues across the University to identify cultivate and solicit major gift prospects in support of the University of Washington. This position will lead major gift fundraising efforts across the East Coast working closely with academic leaders to advance unit and University-wide philanthropic priorities.

What You Will Do:

Frontline Fundraising

  • Identify cultivate and solicit major gifts of $100000 from prospects within the assigned East Coast region and steward existing major gift donors to strengthen longterm relationships.

  • Prepare compelling written proposals endowment agreements gift illustrations and other materials needed to secure major philanthropic commitments.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director for Regional Development to set fundraising goalsand strategies and regularly assess progress to ensure objectives are met.

  • Develop a deep understanding of campus unit and departmental priorities to accurately and effectively represent them to donors and prospective donors.

Strategy & Program Development

  • Inform strategies that promote the philanthropic priorities of the University.

  • Contribute to the creation of an annual plan that outlines fundraising goals objectives and strategies.

  • Lead the design and implementation of advancement programs donorfocused events and marketing materials that strengthen engagement and increase support for the University.

  • Regularly evaluate programs assess progress toward established goals and report results to stakeholders.

  • Develop and manage the budget for outreach travel and cultivation activities within the assigned East Coast region.

  • Plan and execute donor engagement events and programs often in collaboration with partners such as the UW Alumni Association Intercollegiate Athletics and schools and colleges.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree AND five (5) years of experience in development/advancement with experience cultivating and soliciting major gifts.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.

What You Bring:

  • Residence within reasonable commuting distance of a major metropolitan airport.

  • Fundraising experience in a higher education environment including familiarity with gift planning vehicles.

  • Knowledge of alumni relations development and advancement principles.

  • The ability to develop effective fundraising strategies that align with an organizations mission priorities and goals.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite for preparing correspondence reports spreadsheets databases and forms.

  • Ability to travel instate and outofstate up to three times per year for events and meetings.

What You Can Expect:

  • This position is remote-eligible for those located on the East Coast.

  • Frequent domestic and local travel across the East Coast and for occasional UW Campus visits.

  • Evening and weekend hours as necessary on short or limited notice.

$104280.00 annual

$114264.00 annual
